Center for Human Performance

Enhancing human physical performance for both patients and athletes through
research, clinical and educational activities, and a commitment to advancing technology.

Welcome

The Center for Human Performance is an innovation hub for the development of next generation human performance devices, technologies, and training regimens.

Houston Methodist and Rice University have joined forces to advance this research to prevent injuries, improve rehabilitation, enhance performance, and maximize return to life, work, and sport.

At the center, academic researchers and university students work side by side with student athletes, trainers and coaches to advance research and education in human performance.

Center Capabilities

The 6,000-square-foot Center is located in Rice University’s Tudor Fieldhouse and is home to gold-standard equipment that can be used to customize and test new exercise, nutrition, and sleep regimens to enhance and restore human performance.

Center Research

This collaborative center unites physicians, researchers, trainers, coaches and students in an open innovation environment where new ideas and discoveries are changing how athletes play on the field and patients recover in the clinic. Our research spans diverse areas.

Education Opportunities

Through participation in collaborative lab research, Rice students and Houston Methodist trainees have access to the state-of-the-art facilities and advanced equipment managed by the center.
